About this job

This is a new opportunity for an experienced project manager to support the development of a key project in the borough’s Fairer Futures approach. The Food Hub is a multi-partner project that will distribute surplus fresh, frozen and ambient food to VCS organisations around the borough. Operating since May 2026, it is a significant project for tackling poverty and supporting long-term food resilience. You will work with external partners and council officers to co-develop a sustainable plan for the Hub that aligns with the borough’s Good Food Plan and Anti-Poverty Strategy, with a focus on how the Hub can support long-term food resilience, particularly for our most vulnerable residents. Other duties will include being the first point of contact for the Hub partners, ensuring that KPIs are being adhered to and troubleshooting issues as they arise; chairing regular partner meetings and reporting on the project to the council’s senior leadership team.

About you

You will have proven experience of managing complex projects, with the ability to manage your own time and coordinate work priorities. The role requires an ability to build strong relationships, to help develop a shared vision for the development of the Food Hub across multiple stakeholders. You will be able to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, from project delivery and community partners to senior officers and councillors. We are looking for someone that is committed to delivering positive change for the borough, as well as bringing an understanding of food poverty, with experience of supporting delivery and change within diverse communities. If you have the knowledge, skills and experience required for this role and share our values, we would like to hear from you.

The successful candidate will be a self-motivated and enthusiastic team player who shares the Council's core values:

  • Deliver our best every day, and do what we promise
  • Respond in a prompt, positive way to our community's needs
  • Inspire others with our attitudes and actions
  • Value people for who they are and what they can do
  • Engage with others to improve our resilience and flexibility

About us

Our borough is vibrant and diverse, and this is something we are proud of. As one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse communities in the UK, there is a commitment to make it a place where people are proud to live, work, study and stay. The council has just launched its vision or blueprint for the Council over the next few years, Our B&D, Our Future. A key priority for the coming year will be the delivery of this vision. As the fastest growing borough in London both in terms of its population and potential for change, there is not a more exciting place to further your career or make a difference.
