Could You Foster a Child in Rutland?

Rutland County Council urgently needs more local foster carers to help children aged 0 to 18 stay close to their schools, friends, and communities. Foster carers play a vital role in supporting children and young people who, for various reasons, can’t live with their birth families.

There are several types of foster care to suit different lifestyles. These include:

    • short-term care, where a child stays with you until they can return home or move on
    • long-term care, offering a stable home into adulthood; emergency care for children needing immediate safety
    • short breaks for children with additional needs; and respite care, which provides regular support to families

    Fostering is incredibly rewarding.

You’ll receive expert training, emotional support, and generous financial allowances - starting from £342 per week for a new carer looking after younger children, rising to £555 per week for an experienced carer looking after teenagers, as well as birthday and festive payments.

    About you…

You don’t need to be married, own your home, or have children of your own.

If you’re over 21 and have a spare room, fostering could be for you………
