About the role:

This is a 12-month fixed term role at the William Morris Gallery, Walthamstow. As Gallery Trainee you will contribute to the day-to-day operations around the collections and exhibitions and provide basic administrative and practical support to the Curatorial Team.

The role will benefit from being part of a small multidisciplinary team and have regular contact with the Curator to support your learning and development.

We are a Home Office–licensed sponsor; however, for this specific role we are not able to provide Skilled Worker visa sponsorship. To be considered, you must already hold a form of UK work authorisation that does not require sponsorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake display collections care duties. Ensure objects on display are clean and free of dust. Undertake basic repairs to gallery interactives. Pack/unpack objects in collections store
  • Provide basic technical and administrative support for the development of exhibitions.
  • Invigilate visiting researchers in collections store and library
  • To provide technical support for collections and exhibitions
  • Data entry into forms and templates relating to object loans and exhibitions
  • Data entry for collections management database.
  • Provide administrative and in person support for events and gallery activities eg registration of guests
  • To respond to the climate emergency

Qualifications and Requirements:

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following requirements:

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• An interest in museums and galleries
• Able to work as part of a team as well as on your own
• Good overall knowledge of Microsoft office applications.
• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise workloads and achieve
deadlines.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Numerate and accurate with attention to detail

English and Math Qualification
Relevant NVQ Level 1 or 2 qualification
