GCSE Teacher (Full Time – Subjects Negotiable)

Salary: Outer London MPS/UPS + SEN 1
Start Date: 1 September 2026

A unique opportunity to teach small groups and make a difference

Would you like more time to build relationships with your students, have smaller teaching groups (a maximum of six students), but still be able to teach students with the potential to achieve high grades at GCSE?

We have a vacancy for an experienced and enthusiastic GCSE teacher who understands the importance of ensuring students’ social, emotional and mental health needs are also met.

We can offer you the opportunity to focus on a small number of students and transform their experience of education. We understand that there may be some apprehension about teaching in an alternative provision and would encourage you to watch our video (www.maldenoaks.org), as this will give you an insight into our students, their views, and the difference you could make to them.

You would also be supported by a formal induction process and training opportunities.

This post is likely to be based at our Ham School site, teaching one or more GCSE subjects as part of our KS4 offer. All our staff work in a flexible way and there may be potential to also teach in our specialist Post 16 provision 6Oaks, based at the same site, or at one of our other sites in Hampton Hill and Teddington.

Despite our small size, we are committed to offering a broad and balanced curriculum, which currently includes 18 GCSE subjects to allow students a wide choice and develop their interests.

As well as engaging in the formal taught curriculum, students are encouraged to develop in other areas through our D of E activity programme. Supporting our students in developing positive relationships, self-confidence, resilience and creativity is crucial to our ethos and our success is not measured solely by academic results, but by the views of our past and present students.

Please visit www.maldenoaks.org for further information. If you have any queries, please contact Nick Smith, Deputy Headteacher at stns@maldenoaks.rbksch.org.

Visits to the school are welcome and encouraged.

Malden Oaks is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. All new staff will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check and complete safeguarding training. Please read our full safeguarding policy, which can be downloaded from this page.

As part of our recruitment process, we may carry out social media checks on shortlisted candidates. These checks are conducted to support our commitment to safeguarding and maintaining a safe and professional working environment.
