A great opportunity to grow your GIS career in a friendly, supportive team!

Are you looking to take the next step in your GIS career? Whether you’re a recent graduate or someone with hands‑on experience in GIS, geography, IT, or a related field, this role offers the chance to develop your skills in a supportive, collaborative, and development‑focused environment.

We’re seeking someone who is proactive, detail‑driven, and naturally curious — someone who enjoys solving problems, improving processes, and using spatial information to make a real difference. You’ll work on a mix of planned projects and ad hoc requests from teams across the council, so adaptability and strong communication skills are essential.

You’ll be joining a friendly team who value openness, creativity, and continuous learning. If you’re confident, approachable, and ready to build strong working relationships, you’ll fit right in.

We are looking for someone who is seeking a role that is centred around meaningful outcomes and to contribute to our wider purpose of Shaping the Borough, Making a Difference.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll support the day‑to‑day work of the GIS and SNN team, including:

  • Assisting with the administration, development, and maintenance of the council’s web‑based GIS systems.

  • Offering administrative support to GIS and SNN projects.

  • Supporting the Street Naming and Numbering (SNN) process.

  • Providing specialist advice to council staff on GIS and SNN services.

  • Helping manage and maintain geospatial data within the corporate GIS database.

  • Producing mapping and GIS outputs to support Planning Policy, Neighbourhood Development Plans, and the Local Plan.

  • Contributing to consultation and public engagement materials.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience using GIS software, or a relevant degree with a strong GIS component.

  • A good understanding of spatial data management, analysis, and application.

  • Strong attention to detail and high standards of accuracy.

  • Excellent time‑management and prioritisation skills.

  • Confident, adaptable communication skills — both written and verbal.

  • Friendly, approachable and professional.

  • A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and the ability to use your initiative.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suites
