    The Role:

Liverpool City Council is on a significant transformation journey and we’re looking for a Governance & Assurance Officer to join our Portfolio Management Office (PMO), a central team driving transformation across the Council, to ensure effective governance and compliance of our Transformation initiatives from inception to closure across a number of organisation wide programmes.

The Transformation Portfolio touches on all areas of Council activity. Projects will improve our customer service, influence how we manage our roads, improve how our residents receive care, and much more. Our Governance and Assurance Officers make a big difference to those projects and therefore the people who live and work in Liverpool.

You have the chance to contribute to a growing team, and deliver real, tangible improvements throughout the organisation. We are working at the heart of this transformation and there has never been a more exciting time to join our team.

This is an exciting time to join our PMO team as a Governance & Assurance Officer, where you'll help implement changes that shape Liverpool’s future. You’ll collaborate closely with directorates and project/programme teams to ensure effective governance and compliance of our projects from inception to closure.

    Key Responsibilities:

As part of the PMO team, you will play a key role in embedding Governance & Assurance practices across the Council’s transformation portfolios

    • You will develop close relationships with programme/project leads and senior managers giving leadership, support, challenge and scrutiny to ensure and influence successful delivery of key programmes/projects
    • You will design, implement and embed ‘best-practice’ transformation tools and processes, communicating these to the people delivering transformation
    • You will ensure that staff are using these tools and processes to deliver transformation by completing independent assurance and health checks on projects and programmes
    • You will provide expert advice to staff on delivering transformation, providing coaching and mentoring as needed
    • You will provide objective assurance of projects and programmes, across their lifecycle, up to senior management by creating and reviewing project, programme and portfolio level reports on performance

    Our offer to you:

    • At least 27 days holiday, plus bank holidays rising to 32 after 5 years’ service (pro rata if part time) - option to purchase further days
    • Agile working (role dependent) - a “Flexibility First” approach to agile working, where flexibility is the norm rather than the exception
