The Department took full responsibility for the Grenfell Tower site from the local Council in July 2019; work began in September 2025 to carefully take the Tower down.
The Grenfell Site and Programme (GS&P) manages the site, supports the independent Grenfell Tower Memorial Commission (GTMC) and the wider recovery of the Grenfell Community. The priority of the programme is to work towards delivering the vision of the GTMC for a lasting memorial to remember the 72 lives that were lost in the tragedy. with a Multi-Disciplinary Design Team who will design the memorial announced in Nov 2025.
Our Programme Management Office (PMO) team is looking for a project delivery professional to join the team as a governance and reporting officer. The post holder will hold a central role in the delivery of the Grenfell programme. Working well with teams across the directorate, the post holder will focus primarily on insight, information and support that strengthens programme governance and risk management which enables the prioritisation of decisions.
The post-holder will also ensure optimal delivery of departmental strategic objectives in line with government priorities through implementing effective governance boards, risk management and reporting through engagement with programme stakeholders. The post holder will have the opportunity to work across a range of projects, developing an understanding of the entire programme and provide governance and reporting support. This will require strong organisational skills, the ability the deal confidently with teams across the directorate, manage competing priorities and report effectively on progress. It is vital that the post holder can convey the importance of the programme to seniors and across government, while also being aware of the sensitivities of the programme
Job description
As the Governance & Reporting Officer your responsibilities will include:
- Lead on commissioning, coordinating and compiling Board papers from the directorate, working across teams to understand needs and to deliver high-quality products on-time.
- Ensure that the right decisions are brought forward to Programme and Project Boards at the right time, delivering balanced agendas.
- Act as the central point of contact for governance processes, ensuring decisions are documented and actions tracked.
- Lead on the preparation and delivery of high-quality reports for DRM (Delivery Risk Management) and other reporting platforms such as GRIP (Governance, Risk, and Implementation Planning)
- Provide general project management support to the Programme Management team and wider programme, responding to ad hoc commissions and reporting.
- Maintain risk registers, monitor mitigation plans, and escalate issues where necessary.
- Build strong relationships with senior leaders, board members, and project teams.
- Have the opportunity to further develop project delivery skills by working with a team of experienced project delivery professionals and through learning and developing opportunities.

- Ability to interpret, analyse, integrate and present data and evidence from a range of sources
- Good planning, organisation and communication skills
- Ability to network and build relationships across the programme
- Excellent excel, PowerPoint and word skills.
