Head of Communications - Mid Sussex District Council

Location: Haywards Heath, West Sussex
Salary: £64,200 - £71,892 pa

We are looking for a strategic communicator to lead our newly formed centralised communications function.

We need someone who knows the communications industry inside and out to bring the amazing things we do at Mid Sussex District Council to life.

As an integral member of the Council’s leadership team, the Head of Communications plays a central role in supporting the Council’s relationship with its residents, stakeholders and colleagues through the delivery of the internal and external communications. Your key responsibilities will include activities in the areas of.

  • Implementation of the Councils Communications strategy
  • Providing strategic advice
  • Campaign and media development
  • Audience development
  • Management of the communications function across the council.

About You:

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience of leading and developing an effective communications and engagement service
  • Proven experience in developing and delivering strategies that support organisational ambitions
  • Experience managing at a senior level, complex and diverse activities
  • Relevant professional qualifications in areas such as public relations, communications or engagement
