About the role

We’re looking for an experienced and strategic Head of Disrepair to lead our disrepair function and drive service excellence across the organisation. This is a key leadership role with significant influence, responsible for strengthening our approach to legal disrepair, improving processes, and ensuring consistent, high‑quality case management for our residents.

You will oversee a multi‑functional team, act as the senior link between operational teams and legal partners and represent Peabody in court settings and external engagements. Your expertise will help shape a high‑performing service, improve outcomes for residents, and embed robust accountability across the organisation.

This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact, leading transformation in a high‑profile area and delivering sustainable improvements to the resident experience.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the organisation’s disrepair function, ensuring high‑quality, consistent and compliant case management.
  • Drive strategic improvements, streamline processes and embed a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Act as the senior liaison between operational teams, contractors and legal representatives, ensuring clear communication and strong collaboration.
  • Represent Peabody professionally in court and external legal proceedings.
  • Provide visible leadership, developing and supporting your team to manage complex disrepair cases effectively.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, legal partners and senior leaders.
  • Monitor performance, identify risk, and ensure effective controls and governance across the service.
  • Support the development of policies, guidance and best‑practice approaches to minimise disrepair and improve resident outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

  • Extensive experience managing complex housing disrepair cases, including legal processes and court involvement.
  • A strong track record of leading high‑performing, multi‑disciplinary teams within a fast‑paced environment.
  • Demonstrable experience driving operational improvements and strengthening service delivery.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience engaging legal professionals, contractors and senior internal colleagues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and represent the organisation externally.
  • Experience delivering service improvements focused on quality, efficiency and resident experience.
