Shape financial strategy at the heart of the UK's nuclear regulator
How do you turn complex financial information into clear insight that helps senior leaders make better decisions?
At the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR), we're looking for a Head of Finance Business Partnering to lead our Finance Business Partnering function and play a key role in shaping financial strategy, resource allocation and organisational decision-making.
This is a senior leadership opportunity offering regular exposure to ONR's senior leadership and Board, with the opportunity to influence how resources are managed across an organisation with an important public purpose.
The role
Leading the Finance Business Partnering team, you'll develop a trusted, forward-looking finance service that provides meaningful insight and challenge to senior budget holders.
You'll take ownership of organisation-wide budget setting, monitoring, forecasting and management reporting, ensuring financial performance, risks and opportunities are clearly understood. You'll regularly present financial information and recommendations to senior leadership and the Board, translating complex analysis into clear, actionable insight.
You'll also work strategically with senior stakeholders to strengthen financial control, improve decision-making and ensure value for money, while leading continuous improvement across finance systems, reporting, processes and capability.
As a senior member of the finance function, you'll also deputise for the Head of Finance when required.
About you
You'll bring:
- Strong strategic financial leadership and sound professional judgement
- Significant finance experience, including experience in a Finance Business Partnering role
- The confidence and credibility to influence senior stakeholders and challenge constructively
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences
- Experience leading, developing and motivating a professional team
- Proven experience delivering change and continuous improvement in a busy organisation
You'll be a CCAB-qualified accountant with a commitment to continuing professional development, alongside experience advising senior management and producing complex management information, financial analysis and recommendations.
Why join ONR?
ONR has a clear public purpose and a strong focus on excellence and accountability. Our values – supportive, open-minded, fair and accountable – are central to how we work.
We invest in capability, resilience, wellbeing and professional development, while promoting an inclusive culture that welcomes colleagues from a wide range of backgrounds and career paths.
With hybrid and flexible working arrangements, this is an opportunity to combine strategic leadership and meaningful influence with the chance to shape and develop a finance function that supports effective decision-making across ONR.
If you're an experienced finance leader looking to influence strategy, challenge constructively and make a real difference, we'd love to hear from you.
