Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time (35 hours per week)

Salary: £76,034 per annum to £84,208 per annum (London weighted salary) or £66,380 per annum to £74,105 per annum (Regional salary), dependant on experience

Grade: 12

Reporting Office: Stratford, London or Trafford, Greater Manchester

Persona: Agile Worker: 20% - 40% of contractual hours to be worked from reporting office/working location (hybrid working)

Your impact in the role:

The Head of Internal Communications will beresponsible for the strategic planning and delivery of all aspects of internalcommunications to support the L&Q to create an engaged, values-led andstrategy-focussed culture which embraces transformation and change activity todeliver better ways of working.

The successful candidate will demonstrate thepassion, drive and experience needed to lead effective and impactful internal communicationsacross a complex business model comprising 4,000 colleagues and a wide varietyof working personas. You will need to demonstrate a strong knowledge of internalcommunications strategies to support objectives from embedding values andculture, to improving engagement with corporate initiatives, and internalissues management. You should also have the ability to operate at a seniorlevel and at pace, bringing together individuals from across different teams withinCommunications and the wider business to support the delivery of strategic internalcommunications objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and delivery of L&Q’s internal communications plan, covering a range of activity to support L&Q’s annual cycle of internal initiatives, as well as delivering colleague engagement with wider strategic planning priorities.
  • Design and deliver impactful communications channels and content which reflects the diversity of different colleague personas across the business, ensuring the whole workforce is effectively engaged.
  • Lead on campaigns to promote L&Q’s values, behaviours and corporate strategy to colleagues, ensuring that our people and suppliers understand corporate priorities and their role in delivering these.
  • Own communications’ relationship with the HR directorate and work alongside wider teams as needed to deliver internal engagement activity supporting colleague-facing corporate priorities including, but not exclusive to our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work, Transformation and Change, our wellbeing programme and Great Place to Work survey, plus L&Q’s annual performance management process.
  • Provide advice and guidance as appropriate for Executive Group, Governance Groups and relevant senior leaders within L&Q on the implementation of effective internal communications strategies, including those needed to manage risk.
  • Regularly evaluate the impact of internal communications and lead recommendations for improvement.
  • Lead, motivate and mentor L&Q’s Internal Communications team, setting an example in encouraging all members of the team to work together in a way which delivers effective outcomes and is in line with L&Q’s strategic objectives and values
  • Operate as part of the Communications’ Senior Leadership Team, taking responsibility for a coordinated and compliant approach to the delivery of communications services, and deputising for the Director – Group Communications where necessary.

What you'll bring:

  • Degree or Higher National Qualification, or extensive experience and proven track record, in a relevant area
  • Demonstrable experience of working at leadership level in a comparable, fast-paced communications environment
  • Proven track record of successfully managing internal communications for a large and complex organisation
  • Proven track record of leading campaigns to promote and embed values and behaviours
  • Demonstrable experience of leading change communications
  • Proven ability to assess risk and develop proactive and reactive internal communications to manage this
  • Evidence of well-developed written, interpersonal and organisational skills
