The Communications team, within Strategy and Communities, leads the council’s approach to communications, campaigns, media relations and digital content. The team works across the organisation to ensure that council priorities are communicated clearly, residents can access information about services and initiatives, and communications activity supports meaningful engagement and impact.
We are seeking a Head of Internal Communications to lead the council’s internal communications strategy and ensure staff across the organisation are informed, engaged and connected to the council’s priorities.
What You'll Be Doing
In this role you will:
• Lead the council’s internal communications strategy and approach.
• Develop clear and effective communications that support organisational priorities and major programmes of change.
• Work closely with senior leaders to ensure staff receive timely and accurate information.
• Oversee internal communication channels and ensure they are used effectively.
• Support organisational engagement and staff understanding of key initiatives.
• Coordinate communications around corporate announcements and major organisational developments.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who has:
• Significant experience leading internal communications in a complex organisation.
• Strong strategic communications planning skills.
• Experience advising senior leaders on internal communications.
• Strong writing and editorial skills.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
