Job summary

We are looking for a Head of Policy to deliver high quality and coherent regulatory policy interventions to fulfil TPR's corporate strategy. The role requires building strong relationships with government partners, external stakeholders and other teams within TPR in order to deliver organisational objectives.

The Head of Policy will ensure members of the policy team are supported and developed as individuals and that TPR's policy making framework is efficient and effective. They will act with other senior leaders to support a culture of continuous improvement and effectiveness. The Head of Policy deputises for the Director at internal/external events/meetings if the Director is unavailable.

Job description

The role and responsibilities

  • Act as part of TPR's senior leadership team and contribute to the development of TPR
  • Be a visible leader: setting a vision for the team, taking an interest in work across the team and hold individuals to account
  • Be accountable for budget, KPls, performance indicators and resource allocation
  • Provides assurance to Exco, TPR board, including ARAC and DWP that policy is made robustly
  • Deliver complex strategic and policy based regulatory projects to time, budget and quality
  • Support the team to deliver, ensuring they have right frameworks, tools, processes and resources

Person specification

The role criteria

  • Experience of leading high performing policy teams.
  • Demonstrate experience of building strong internal and external relationships and ability to leverage these to deliver policy objectives.
  • Significant experience of delivering complex policy change within a government or similar regulatory policy-making environment, including complex delivery.
  • Ability to be decisive and provide direction.
  • Innovative, creative and bold in developing ideas and solutions for achieving our priorities.
  • Experience of leading change.
