Kilgarth is an Ofsted Outstanding Community Special School in the heart of Birkenhead that supports children and young people who experience social, emotional and mental health needs. We are an 11-16 school with 55 places on a single site for Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 children and young people all of whom have an Education, Health and Care Plan.

Due to the retirement of our long standing and high performing Headteacher, we are seeking to appoint an experienced leader who has a clear vision for pupils with SEMH needs, who can inspire our school community and has a strong commitment to support our pupils to achieve their potential.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a proven track record of leadership in the SEMH sector who can further develop the outstanding provision that we already provide for our children and young people. Within our caring, nurturing and inclusive environment we maintain high expectations for every child's personal and academic success.

Our school community places the highest priority on keeping our children safe. Applicants for all posts will be subject to stringent vetting and induction processes. The holder of this post will be required to work with children under the age of 16 in a position of trust, and is, therefore, exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

The successful candidate will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check. In line with KCSIE, we will undertake general online searches for all shortlisted candidates.
