Job summary
As a health and safety advisor, you will be required to use your knowledge and skills to promote a positive health, safety and environmental protection culture. Ensuring that employers and workers comply with safety and environmental legislation and that safety policies and practices are adopted and adhered to.
You will also be required to plan, implement, monitor and review protective and preventative safety measures, advising the Station Commander/Commanding Officer, Sub-Unit Commanders and Line Managers of the requirements of the Secretary of State for Defence SHE Policy Statement, the Health and Safety at work etc Act 1974, Regulations, Environmental legislation, and supporting documentation.
This role is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job description
The successful candidate will need to provide expert advice and assurance on health, safety, and environmental protection (HSEP) across RAF Digby. Promote a positive safety culture, ensure compliance with UK legislation and MOD policy, and support risk management to maintain activities as long as reasonably practicable and tolerable.
The Main Responsibilities for the role will include:
- Advise Commanding Officer and senior leaders on HSEP legislation and MOD policy.
- Develop and implement HSEP policies, training needs analysis, and environmental management systems.
- Conduct audits, inspections, and risk assessments; report findings and recommend corrective actions.
- Monitor incidents and safety performance via MySafety; share lessons learned.
- Chair/secretary HSEP meetings and prepare quarterly performance returns.
- Liaise with stakeholders on infrastructure projects and contractor safety compliance.
- Provide guidance on radiation safety and environmental health matters.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and working from home as part of a non-contractual hybrid working arrangement.
