The Vacancy
We’re recruiting a Health, Safety and Security Manager to provide expert strategic advice and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all Cafcass employees and visitors. This is a highly visible role, working closely with senior leaders and our National Estates Manager to deliver legal compliance, strong governance, and continuous improvement across 30+ offices in England.
You will work closely with our National Estates Manager and have responsibility for legal compliance for personal and building safety in accordance with current health and safety legislation, as well as leading on relevant strategic priorities.
This is a highly visible role in which you will work closely with senior leaders to ensure statutory duties and obligations are met and drive continuous improvement in health, safety and security practices, and policies and procedures across Cafcass.
Job description
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing health, safety and security processes and procedures in line with health and safety legislation.
- Supporting our leaders and employees in accident and incident management, fire safety provisions, emergency management and responding to health and safety queries.
- Supervising our team of Health and Safety Officers and providing expert advice to senior leaders to shape and support the strategic priorities of the organisation.
- Maintaining a visible profile within Cafcass to support and embed a strong culture of safety and compliance.
Person specification
Who we’re looking for
We are seeking a passionate and delivery-focused professional with:
- NEBOSH or NVQ Level 5 qualification
- Specialist security qualification such as NPSA or a willingness to work towards them.
- It may be an advantage to have worked in the public sector, and/or an organisation like ours that is office-based, liaises extensively with the public, and operates from a range of offices.
- Excellent presentation skills and the ability to influence at all levels.

There will be some travel - we have 30+ offices – and you can also expect to meet with your manager and team in-person at regular intervals in-person, especially during your induction, as we know the value of this for colleagues.
