Help Keep Coventry Moving

Every day, our Waste Services Team delivers a vital frontline service that keeps Coventry clean, safe and sustainable. We collect waste and recycling from over 126,000 households, complete more than 10 million collections each year, and manage over 100,000 tonnes of waste and recycling annually.

This is a service residents depend on every day, and we're looking for dedicated HGV Class 2 Drivers to join us.

What is the role?

As an HGV Driver, you'll be part of a professional frontline team delivering essential waste and recycling services across Coventry, Nuneaton, Bedworth and the surrounding area.

Opportunities are available across our:

  • Coventry Waste Service
  • Nuneaton and Bedworth Recycling Collections

This is far more than a driving job. You'll play a key role in protecting the local environment, supporting communities and ensuring residents receive a reliable, high-quality service every day.

No two days are the same. You'll work closely with collection crews, interact with residents and businesses, and help keep our services running safely and efficiently.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for reliable, motivated team players who take pride in their work and are committed to delivering excellent customer service.

Working under the direction of our Supervising Team Leaders, you'll help deliver safe, efficient and customer-focused waste and recycling collections from a wide range of locations.

You'll need:

  • A current Category C (Class 2) HGV Licence
  • A valid Driver CPC
  • The ability to work safely in a physically demanding outdoor environment
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • A positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Knowledge of waste and recycling collection operations
  • Confidence using mobile technology and completing operational records

The Council may be able to salary match upon confirmation of accepted role and last three months payslips.
