Role: Higher Level Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School
Salary: Grade 6 SCP 11 - 14
Actual Salary Pro-Rata: £13, 798 – £14,484 per annum (pro rata to £28,141 – £29,539 full time equivalent working all year)
Contract: fixed term until 31st August 2027 in the first instance
Hours: 21 hours per week // 3 days a week // 39 weeks a year

The Governors and Headteacher of Barnton Community Nursery and Primary School wish to appoint a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to join our team. This position will be for 21 hours per week and is term time only plus inset days.

We are looking for a friendly, caring and motivated person with plenty of energy who can join our hardworking team in supporting teaching and learning across our school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be able to deliver the curriculum to Key Stage 2 pupils,
  • Have relevant experience of working with children in a higher-level teaching assistant role,
  • Be able to cover all classes across the school
  • Hold at least a level 3 qualification in childcare or teaching support,
  • Demonstrate high expectations of individual achievement and behaviour,
  • Be creative and enthusiastic,
  • Have good organisational and interpersonal skills,
  • Have flair, talent and initiative,
  • Demonstrate a commitment to raising standards,
  • Be able to work in close partnership with the whole school community.
