About the Role
Pickhurst Academy is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our committed and supportive team.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced practitioner to play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to deliver high-quality learning experiences, including whole-class teaching, targeted interventions, and one-to-one support, helping all pupils achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver high-quality learning activities and cover lessons across the school
• Support teachers in raising standards and improving pupil outcomes
• Deliver targeted interventions and provide support for individuals and small groups
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
• Support pupils’ academic, social and emotional development
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider professionals
• Contribute to the wider life and ethos of the school
Key Requirements
• Relevant HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
• Experience working within a primary school setting
• Strong literacy, numeracy and behaviour management skills
• Ability to deliver engaging learning activities across the curriculum
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• A proactive, flexible and positive approach
• Commitment to continuous professional development
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people

Salary: £22,340 - £25,075 actual salary (£28,930 - £32,472 FTE) depending on experience
Contract: Fixed Term for 1 year
Hours: 32.5 hours per week
Start Date: 1st September 2026
