We are pleased to be advertising the role of Highways and Street Works Inspector within the Places Directorate.

About the role

The Highways Team are seeking a Highways and Street Works Inspector; this is an exciting opportunity for a motivated person to undertake both Highway safety and Street Works inspections.
As an Inspector, you will use your skills to build relationships internally and externally to help maintain a safe network. Your duties include:
• Support operational colleagues to identify and understand needs within the service areas, Scoping and ensuring value for money that achieve the right outcomes
• Investigate reports of highway defects such as flooding, including blocked road gullies and potholes and provide responses to customers and Councillors.

• Investigate highways related insurance claims made against the authority. Providing all relevant information required to the Councils insurers, to defend such claims. Including maintaining records kept on the Council’s insurance claims database.

• Assist with the Winter Maintenance and Out of Hours service, for example, being part of the emergency rota and gritting decision-making process.

• Manage and co-ordinate working closely with our term maintenance contractor for the recovery of Rutland County Council costs, from third parties for incidents within the highway, including damage to Council property.

Please note that you will need a full driving licence to enable you to travel across the county.
