    About Us:

    The Hostels and HMO Team for London Borough of Havering Currently Consists of 3 Hostels, a Mother and Baby Unit and HMO properties in the Havering Area

    About the Job

    We are recruiting for a skilled and enthusiastic support worker to provide support to families living in Homeless Accommodation in the London Borough of Havering.

    We are looking for applicants that can demonstrate knowledge and experience of working with both Adults and Children and have a good understanding of safeguarding.

    The Hostels Service adopt a Psychologically Informed Approach when working with our residents and would welcome applications from candidates with an understanding of this model. Ideally applicants would have some knowledge of Housing and Homelessness matters including rent collection and the management of Anti-Social Behaviours

    Applicants should be able to provide a high quality service to Hostel and HMO residents who are housed in temporary accommodation with, at times, complex needs.

    You will support people to sustain their quality of life, develop support plans and engage various support agencies.

    You will provide advice for safeguarding, health and well-being on a wide range of issues including housing, welfare rights, personal finance, hoarding, tenancy management, mediation, life skills and the promotion of personal independence.

    Act as the principle point of contact for casework within Hostels and residents to co-ordinate solutions for drug and alcohol, domestic violence, and mental health issues. Ensure the environment and conditions that residents experience is high quality and well maintained. Lead on safeguarding and vulnerabilities to ensure smooth transition into suitable accommodation.

    Where relevant take action in line with license agreements, manage nuisance and anti-social behaviour.

    • Maintain a variable and busy schedule
    • Able to work closely with partnerships and stakeholders
    • Deliver excellent customer service
    • Successfully work in a multi-agency setting
    • Work closely as a Team with all colleagues
    • Candidates will need to evidence experience and knowledge of working with Adults and Children
    • It is imperative that you will have a good understanding of Safe-guarding

    Applicants must be able to work on-site between Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm. Hybrid Working is not offered. Applicants must be prepared to travel to sites within the London Borough of Havering, therefore a car driver would be desirable.
