An exciting opportunity has arisen for a keen, self-motivated apprentice to join the Estates Service Team within the housing Estates team at Brighton & Hove City Council.

The co-ordinators provide business support to the Estates Service Management Team in order to deliver greater value for our council, tenants and customers.

For an informal discussion, please contact Chloe Mclaughlin - Housing Estates Manager on 01273 294769.

    About the role

You may already have experience in providing a high quality, customer focussed and responsive service. We are here to help improve and support our residents’ quality of life and ensure that the estates are clean, safe and secure. You’ll prioritise your work to support our tenants in solving problems and concerns.

We take pride in the work we do, making sure our buildings and surrounding areas are clean and meet high quality standards.

The Estates Co-Ordinators support our management team in order to deliver greater value for our council, tenants and customers.

Simultaneously undertaking a comprehensive study programme towards the Level 3 apprenticeship qualification, you will gain valuable knowledge, first-hand experience and skills in:

    • Health and Safety – ensuring buildings and equipment are compliant in Health and Safety legislation, keeping staff and visitors safety foremost in everything we do.
    • Administration – producing accurate records, drafting documents & record retention.
    • Customer service – working in a frontline team, responding to queries from our tenants but also working closely alongside Housing teams supporting them to carry out their role.
    • IT – using a wide range of IT packages and systems to input data and to look up information as well as desktop packages for producing documents, spreadsheets and emails.
    • Project Management – as a part of your apprenticeship you will be expected to manage a project that will support change in the service.

For more information about the organisation and the specific tasks of the role please download the job description / person specification.

Please read our Apply for a job at the council pages carefully. They give you all the guidance you need to complete your application as well as information on what will happen after you’ve submitted your application and at interview.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and provide answers to some shortlisting questions. Your answers to the shortlisting questions are the most important part of your application as they will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Application form guidance) and Shortlisting questions guidance as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.
