Housing Management Officer
Hastings Borough Council
Salary: £29,540 to £37,280 per annum
Grade: Career Grade 7-6
Contract: Temporary, fixed-term (12 months), Full Time (37 hours per week)
Location: Hastings, East Sussex
We’re looking for an experienced, proactive and motivated Housing Management Officer to join our fast‑paced Property Services Team. You’ll be working as part of a friendly and welcoming team, in a dynamic environment which can be both challenging and rewarding. You’ll play a key role in managing our temporary accommodation, supporting residents, and ensuring properties are safe, well‑maintained, and compliant.
What you’ll do
- Manage a portfolio of properties and tenancies
- Support the Income Recovery team to address rent arrears
- Manage ASB and other tenancy management issues
- Carry out property inspections and ensure Health & Safety compliance
- Raise safeguarding concerns appropriately where risks or vulnerabilities are identified
- Coordinate repairs and manage voids efficiently
- Provide tenancy support to help residents sustain their placements
- Work closely with contractors, services, and partners
What we’re looking for
- Experience in housing management, property management, or similar (essential)
- Knowledge of housing legislation and Health & Safety (desirable)
- Confidence dealing with ASB, and other tenancy management issues, and navigating challenging situations
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills
- Good organisation and record‑keeping
- Ability to work independently across a busy caseload
- Driving licence (essential)
