We’re looking for a dedicated and empathetic Housing Options Advisor to join our frontline housing service—playing a vital role in tackling homelessness and housing insecurity in our borough.

This is a career graded post - This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career through both on the job experience and formal training.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide high-quality, customer-focused advice on housing options across public and private sectors

  • Carry out thorough assessments of housing needs and deliver personalised plans to prevent or relieve homelessness

  • Act as a lifeline for households facing eviction, domestic abuse, or rough sleeping—helping them navigate to safe and secure accommodation

  • Collaborate with landlords, support agencies, and internal teams to reduce reliance on temporary accommodation

  • Issue robust statutory decisions that stand up to scrutiny and uphold best practices

  • Be a trusted point of contact—supporting some of our most vulnerable residents with dignity, respect, and unwavering resolve

What You'll Bring:

  • Proven experience in housing advice or homelessness prevention

  • Strong working knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 & Homelessness Reduction Act 2017

  • Compassionate communication, expert negotiation, and sound judgement

  • Ability to manage complex cases, handle pressure, and deliver clear written decisions

  • A commitment to collaborative working and supporting wider emergency response efforts when needed

Why Join Us?

You’ll join a passionate team dedicated to making homelessness rare, brief, and non-recurring. Every day brings new challenges and contributing to a service that truly changes lives.

Benefits:

  • Grade 4: 22 days annual leave, Grade 5: 24 days annual leave, plus bank holidays, increasing to 27 days with 5 years' continuous service.
