    Salary- AG6 Starting at £36,363 per annum with incremental progression to £39,862 per annum plus essential car user allowance
    Full time- 37 hours per week

    The Environmental Health Housing team plays a vital role in improving the conditions of privately rented homes within our area. We are looking for a number of dedicated individuals who want to improve the quality of the private rental sector to work with landlords and tenants to improve the property standards and management practices in our area, to ensure people are safeguarded from poor practices and can live in have safe, good condition homes .

    The team is being expanded to cover the new duties following the introduction of the Renters Rights Act, including dealing with harassment, illegal eviction, and new tenancy rules enforcement. Responding to complaints from tenants and other professionals you will undertake investigations, inspections, gather evidence to advise landlords and tenants of their obligations, rights and duties. You will be expected to offer advice, guidance and to undertake enforcement action where appropriate. As a district officer your duties will include general private sector housing enforcement under the Housing Act, including the licensing of Houses of Multiple Occupation, caravan site licensing and other public health duties.

    We are looking for candidates with experience of property inspections/ building knowledge and /or experience of building case for enforcement.

    The ideal candidates will be used to working with landlords, letting agents, stakeholders and occupiers to achieve compliance.

    Experience of investigatory practice, effective case management and preparing enforcement files for prosecution or tribunal would be advantageous.

    Salary range

    • £36,363 - £39,862 per year
