Housing Strategy Officer
This is a new post and the postholder will join our small, friendly Housing Strategy team, whose primary focus is the delivery of the Council’s strategic housing functions, such as the housing strategy, development of affordable and supported housing, allocations policy and research across a range of housing issues.
Your primary initial focus will be to assist with the delivery of the Council’s strategic duties under the Supported Housing (Regulatory Oversight) Act 2023, whilst also assisting colleagues with the introduction of licensing arrangements for supported housing.
The postholder will be heavily involved in the commission and production of a supported housing needs assessment across a range of vulnerable client groups, the development of a new Supported Housing Strategy for the borough and the provision of monitoring information in relation to the strategy’s ongoing delivery over the next 5-10 years.
You will work with a range of internal and external partners, stakeholders and consultants to ensure that appropriate data is collated and analysed, core strategic objectives are identified and agreed, consultation exercises are conducted and a Supported Housing Strategy Delivery Plan is agreed, adopted and monitored.
The postholder will also assist with servicing a multi-agency Supported Housing Governance Board, including arranging meetings, contributing to agenda items and assisting with the preparation and presentation of reports.
You will be a housing or support professional with an appropriate qualification, who has experience of working in a strategic or supported housing setting.
You will be able to demonstrate experience working in a local authority, housing organisation or support provider, together with knowledge of strategic or supported housing legislation and guidance.
Other essential qualities will include excellent communication, presentation and written skills, experience with research studies and the ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
