Our Vacancy

Be the Difference – Join Our New Lambeth Service Supporting Young People (19–25)

Imagine being the person who helps a young adult take their first step towards independence. Someone who listens without judgement, spots the moments when they’re struggling, and knows where to guide them for the right help at the right time.

At Peabody, that’s what our Housing Support Workers do every day. We don’t just provide a roof; we help young people who’ve faced homelessness, trauma, or difficult life experiences find their feet, rebuild their confidence, and believe in themselves again.

In spring 2024, we’re opening a brand-new supported housing service in Lambeth for young people aged 19–25. We’re looking for people with enthusiasm, motivation, and creativity to join us – people who can engage residents, plan meaningful activities, and inspire them to learn the skills they need to thrive.

What the Role Involves

No two days are the same! You might be:

  • Helping someone learn how to budget so they can move into their own flat
  • Supporting a young resident to access counselling, mental health support, or a drug and alcohol service
  • Organising a cooking session, job search workshop, or community event that brings everyone together
  • Writing support plans and risk assessments to make sure residents feel safe and secure
  • Working closely with partner agencies so residents can access the right services at the right time

Who We’re Looking For

You’ll be:

  • A good listener, patient, and genuinely passionate about seeing young people succeed.
  • Confident working with young people in housing, youth work, care, or similar settings.
  • Knowledgeable about homelessness and housing legislation, with experience in support planning and risk assessments.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Office and keeping accurate records.

Important Information for you!

Flexible to work shifts across 7 days, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays (non-negotiable).

In your application we will ask you to confirm that you can work the required hours and shifts and ask you to share examples of your experience!

At Peabody, our purpose is to help people flourish. Here just a few of the benefits for you working with us:

  • 25 days’ annual holiday plus bank holidays
  • Flexible benefits scheme, including options for Healthcare, Dental care, Critical illness cover, vouchers, technology scheme and access to a discount portal.
  • 4 x Life Assurance
  • Sleep in allowance
  • Professional development by access to "paid for" apprenticeship programs and qualifications
  • Two additional paid volunteering days each year
  • Family friendly policies
  • Up to 10% pension contribution matched 1:1

This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.
