Housing Support Worker – Help People Build Independent Lives as a Housing Support Worker

At Peabody, we’re committed to helping people live well and independently. We provide specialist housing, care, and support to individuals who may be socially excluded, disabled, unwell, or experiencing homelessness and we’re proud of the positive impact our teams make every day.

We’re now looking for a Housing Support Worker to join our dedicated team and play a vital role in supporting customers to build fulfilling, independent lives where they can flourish and thrive.

About the Role

This is not a care role, it’s a practical and emotional support position, helping people build life skills and feel empowered to shape their future.

As a Housing Support Worker, you’ll deliver high-quality, person-centred support to customers in their own homes and local communities. From day one, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful difference helping people develop the skills, confidence, and stability they need to reach their goals and sustain their housing.

What You’ll Be Doing

No two days are the same. This is a rewarding, varied role where your work will directly change lives:

  • Carry out needs and risk assessments, develop support plans and complete regular reviews in line with Peabody policies and funder requirements
  • Help customers manage their money, maximise income, budget effectively, and sustain their tenancy
  • Provide one-to-one support, coaching, and guidance to help customers achieve their personal goals
  • Support customers with everyday household skills such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, gardening, and general home management
  • Promote community integration and support access to education, employment, social activities, and local resources
  • Accurately record customer information using electronic systems to meet performance, safeguarding, and compliance requirements
  • Work collaboratively as part of a supportive team, participating in meetings, supervisions, appraisals, and training

About You

You are someone who genuinely wants to make a difference and will be:

  • Kind, empathetic, and respectful of the diverse needs and experiences of our customers
  • Organised and confident with report writing, IT systems, and Microsoft Office tools
  • A strong communicator, able to build trust with customers, colleagues, and external partners
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable people to achieve positive outcomes
  • A team player who can also work confidently on your own, including lone working
  • Flexible and able to work shifts on a rota basis, including weekends

You will have:

  • Experience supporting vulnerable people in a community or supported housing setting (paid or voluntary)
  • Organised with a good level of Administration with knowledge of finance or benefits background
  • Knowledge of Support Plans and an understanding of safeguarding vulnerable adults
  • Knowledge of equality, diversity, and inclusion, and the confidence to challenge discrimination and stigma
  • Awareness of health and safety within a supported housing environment
  • A DBS check with a result satisfactory to Peabody

Why join us?

When you join Peabody, you’re joining a team guided by our values, Be Kind, Do the Right Thing, Love New Ideas, Celebrate Diversity, Keep Our Promises, and Pull Together. We believe in creating a workplace where everyone feels supported, included, and empowered.

What You’ll Get

• 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
• Flexible benefits including healthcare, dental, and discounts.
• 4x Life Assurance and up to 10% pension contribution.
• Professional development, including funded apprenticeships.
• Two paid volunteering days each year.
• Family-friendly policies and a supportive team culture.
