Salary: MPS/UPS (£32,916- £51,048 + SEN1 Allowance (£2,787)

About Olsen House School

Olsen House School is a specialist setting for students with Education, Health and Care Plans, with a core focus on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and associated social, emotional and mental health needs. Many of our students have experienced barriers to learning or disruption to their education, and we respond with calm, structured, autism-responsive practice and exceptionally strong relationships.

The opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and skilled Teacher of Humanities to join our team. This role would suit a teacher with experience in History, Geography, RE, PSHE or a broader Humanities background.

Humanities is an important part of our curriculum and helps students to develop knowledge, curiosity, communication and understanding of the wider world. We are looking for someone who can deliver engaging, well-structured lessons and help students make meaningful progress over time.

You will:

· Teach Humanities across KS3 and KS4.

· Plan and deliver a sequenced Humanities curriculum that builds students’ knowledge, understanding and confidence over time.

· Plan engaging, well-structured lessons with clear routines, modelling and scaffolding that support all learners.

· Use assessment and feedback effectively to improve outcomes over time.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff and therapists to reduce barriers and strengthen progress.

· Contribute to enrichment opportunities and authentic outcomes that enrich students’ understanding of the wider world.

We are looking for someone who:

· Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a calm, consistent approach aligned to an ASD/SEND setting.

· Has experience teaching Humanities, for example History, Geography, RE, PSHE or related subjects.

· Understands how to adapt teaching for autistic students (structure, predictability, modelling and supported independence).

· Is values-led: Be Kind, Be Ambitious, Be Inspired.

· Has high expectations and a commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing.

· We welcome applications from Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and will provide a strong programme of support and development.
