Help Shape the Future of Immingham, Habrough & Stallingborough

A community-led Neighbourhood Board has been established as part of the national Pride in Place programme. We are now seeking an Independent Chair to work with existing Board members, local communities and stakeholders across Immingham, Habrough and Stallingborough to bring local voices together, establish a clear shared vision and champion the future of our place.

In 2025 Immingham & Habrough was selected to receive £20 million funding over 10 years as part of the national Pride in Place Programme. Investment will focus on three core objectives: Thriving Places, Stronger Communities, and Taking Back Control. Your leadership will help unlock improvements to local infrastructure and high streets, strengthen community networks, and give residents a bigger voice in local decision-making.

This is a unique and high-impact leadership opportunity for someone with deep rooted commitment to Immingham, Habrough and Stallingborough, a passion for community-led change, and the ability to bring people together and champion the community’s vision for change.

About the Role

As the Independent Chair, you will:

  • Act as a community champion for Immingham, Habrough and Stallingborough, embodying the spirit and purpose of the Pride in Place Programme.
  • Convene, lead, and inspire a diverse Neighbourhood Board made up of local residents, organisations, businesses, and partners.
  • Ensure that Board discussions are inclusive, balanced, and centred on the community’s priorities.
  • Bring together different voices, encourage collaboration, and build consensus to shape the 10-year Pride in Place Plan.
  • Represent the Board publicly, working constructively with the local authority, the constituency MP, and stakeholders.
  • Support extensive, meaningful community engagement so that all residents - especially those less often heard - have a voice in shaping the programme.

This is a strategic role, similar to that of a school governor or charity trustee. A small payment may be made to support candidates who otherwise would be unable to commit, as outlined in the national programme prospectus.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from people with a strong connection to Immingham, Habrough and Stallingborough who can bring:

  • Credibility and trust within the community
  • Fair, balanced, and inclusive leadership
  • Strong facilitation skills, particularly where differing views emerge
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to navigate challenge constructively
  • Creativity and openness, including recognising their own knowledge gaps
  • Commitment and time to guide the Board effectively

Due to the importance of this role, we would be looking for somebody with formal board or leadership experience coupled with the commitment to improving the lives of local people.
