Inclusive Community Facilitator Disability

Job description

Full Time, Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing and diverse Community Development Team as an Inclusive Communities Facilitator (Disability Equality). Using an Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) approach, you will work with Disabled people, community groups, and local partners to build connections, increase social action, and support people to have greater choice, influence, and participation within their communities.

Working alongside Disabled people, volunteers and community and partner organisations, you will strengthen community networks, reduce inequalities, and help people access opportunities that matter to them. Applying the social model of disability, you will support community-led activities, develop community connector networks, and promote inclusion, participation, and self-determination.

We are looking for someone with knowledge of community development / community health development, and the principles of Asset Based Community Development, together with direct experience of disability and a good understanding of the Disabled People's Movement and the social model of disability.

You will have experience of building relationships, working collaboratively with communities and volunteers, and supporting people to achieve positive change. Strong communication skills, a commitment to equality and inclusion, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities are essential.

This role may involve some evening and weekend work which you will be able to take back as flexi time.

If you are passionate about disability equality, community empowerment, and creating positive change, we would love to hear from you.
