Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here.

The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

    The Post

The Housing Management Service is recruiting Income Assistants to support the Rent Income Team in delivering an effective and customer-focused administrative service to residents across Brent.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and supportive team at a time of transformation and service improvement. The successful candidates will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day administration of the Rent Income Team while helping to deliver high-quality services to residents.

You will provide administrative support across a range of income management activities, including responding to resident enquiries, maintaining accurate records, supporting tenancy sustainment activity, and assisting with the monitoring and management of rent accounts.

Working closely with Income Project Officers, Area Tenancy Managers, and wider Council services, you will contribute to a service that is focused on early intervention, resident support, and delivering positive outcomes for our communities.

You will also support the team in maintaining accurate data, updating housing management systems, and ensuring residents receive a professional, responsive, and empathetic service.

    The Person

We are looking for an organised and motivated individual who thrive in a busy environment and have a strong commitment to customer service.

You will have experience carrying out administrative duties, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage competing priorities effectively. Experience within housing management, income collection, or social housing services is desirable.

    The successful candidates will have:

    • An understanding of social housing and awareness of relevant housing legislation and welfare benefits.
    • Strong organisational and administrative skills
    • Good attention to detail and accurate data entry skills
    • Experience using Microsoft Office and housing management systems
    • The ability to communicate confidently with residents and colleagues
    • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving
    • A commitment to delivering high-quality resident-focused services

You will work well as part of a team, be willing to learn, and be motivated to contribute to a service that supports residents and strengthens tenancy sustainment.
