Be part of our management team driving improvements We have an exciting opportunity for a manager to lead the changes in terms of how we collect our income. We have created this post in order to get our collection back on track but also to fundamentally evaluate how we can embed best practice within the service we are delivering. Income collection became part of a wider generic function for the Area Tenancy Managers and this has led to an inconsistency in the delivery that we need to get resolved. The ideal candidate will have a track record of collection and management experience. Brent is a tremendously vibrant London borough where the iconic arch of Wembley Stadium dominates the skyline. Spanning both inner and outer London, it is a borough of huge contrasts in terms of its economic, environmental, ethnic and social make up. Brent’s diversity is evident to all who visit our borough and our long history of ethnic and cultural diversity has created a place that is truly unique and valued by those who live and work here. The council is pursuing a far-reaching transformation agenda that better meets the needs of our community so it is an exciting time to join us.

The Housing Management Service is looking for a new Income Maximisation Manager to bring their experience in Housing Management to support residents on a patch of properties, managing end-to-end tenancies and helping Brent to deliver high quality services to our residents.

    The Post

As the Income Maximisation Manager, you will have the overall responsibility for setting the strategy and direction for rental income collection and the tenancy support framework for our social housing tenants with the wider area tenancy team and a small group of specialist officers.

You will have the opportunity to embed the processes and income recovery ethos within the wider Neighbourhood team whilst managing a team that will deal with more complex cases, such as those that may involve disrepair or capacity issues. You will also oversee functions that relate to former tenants and administrative support.

As the lead person for income you will be expected to forge collaborative constructive and respectful partnerships with the key supporting services that will assist us in delivering effective income recovery such as our legal team, health and social services. You will ensure that our more vulnerable residents are supported effectively to maintain their tenancy when the need arises.

You will develop best practice across the department that complies with the legal framework and ensures we have an effective but caring approach to recovery.

    The Person

We’re looking for a resilient individual who thrives in a dynamic environment that is outcome focused but is afraid of hard work. You should have a natural team spirit, and strong customer service skills with a focus on empathy and tenant satisfaction.

Knowledge of local authority statutory and support services related to housing, awareness of relevant housing legislation and welfare benefits, and excellent organisational and IT skills are essential.

You will have a track record of delivering an effective income collection service in a similar organisation and be personally motivated by delivering high quality services to our tenants.

    Why join us?

We know people achieve their best when they feed valued. At Brent, you’ll benefit from:

    • Up to 33 days annual leave (depending on length of service) plus bank holidays

    • Hybrid and flexible working options available for most roles
    • Supportive family-friendly policies for parent, guardians, and carers
