About us
Anonymised Application – in keeping with Camden’s commitment to inclusion the recruitment to this role is anonymised and supports the objective of reducing the impact of unconscious bias.
Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit because. We’re not just home to UK’s fast-growing economy, we’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help decide a better future for us all.
The role
This is an exciting time to join the Camden Health and Wellbeing Department as a Consultant in Public Health for Intergenerational Health. This new portfolio will be shaped by the postholder, working across children’s and adults’ services to adopt whole family approaches, and take innovative action to break intergenerational patterns of behaviour. You will take a lead role in strategic programmes across the life course, including violence against women and girls, and anti-social behaviour. You will also lead our equity in practice programmes, linking closely to the Race Equality Action Plan.
At senior level, you will play a vital role in leading change alongside our team of Public Health Consultants, putting residents born into the most challenging circumstances at the core of your work. You will lead the establishment of the Centre for Prevention, a sustainable model of public mental health that spans the life-course and bridges generations. You will also support and complement the development of Raise Camden, our child health equity programme. Your approach will consider and build on existing work across the department, while employing Camden’s missions-based approach to local government, as set out in We Make Camden and the Way We Work.
You will work with senior colleagues across the Council, voluntary and community sector and NHS including counterparts across the North Central London Integrated Care System, providing technical expertise and visible leadership to drive change and improve health outcomes.
You will join a well-resourced department and you will have the opportunity to build on existing interests, academic links. Your involvement in the Public Health Specialist training scheme and innovation are encouraged
You will work with and lead an able and enthusiastic team of public health practitioners, commissioning and intelligence specialists.
Please contact carol.anderson@camden.gov.uk if you would like to arrange a time to discuss the position with Kirsten Watters, Director of Health and Wellbeing if needed.
