
Internal Communications Manager
Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, strategic and proactive internal campaign manager in the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government communications directorate.
This role is a chance to make a real impact during a pivotal period, with a focus on launching and communicating high-profile strategies and the business plan.
You will create innovative, engaging and lively ‘campaign’ content - especially digital and video - that brings our story to life, provide strategic communications advice, and collaborate closely with senior management and MHCLG Communication teams.
You will be experienced in creating impactful and modern digital communications content strategies and plans. You will also have hands on experience of helping to promote staff and team stories, including devising, producing and editing outstanding video content.
Job description
- Develop, originate and deliver (at pace) engaging and creative content for a variety of channels – using the latest creative and digital techniques including video, podcasts, live steams
- Working confidently with communications colleagues, spotting opportunities and creating connections to help to our story to colleagues
- Manage high profile face to face and online events, such as MHCLG Live
- Advice on communications to policy and operational teams looking to maximise engagement on key departmental issues
- Lead communications activities that align with business objectives, ensuring quality and innovation across your portfolio.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, becoming a trusted advisor for internal communications and engagement strategies.
- Support to deliver priority projects that support the launch and implementation of new corporate and business strategies.
- Maintain and improve internal communications products using evaluation techniques
- Understanding of the latest communications techniques including AI
Person specification
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to originate and develop compelling and inspiring written, visual and video content (at pace)
- Confidence using a range of channels to engage and inspire colleagues effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills - working with and getting the best from a range of colleagues
- Evidence of building and developing relationships at all levels of the organisation.
- Good organisational and planning abilities, with attention to detail and the capacity to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Strong project management skills
- Planning and delivering successful content strategies - using a range of hooks to enhance relevance and engagement
- Significant experience of using evaluation and data to inform and improve communications products
