Job description
About the Communications Team
The communications team is part of the Strategy, People and Culture directorate and is responsible for providing professional communications advice and support across the Government Legal Department.
It is an exciting time to be working at GLD. The rule of law is at the heart of the government’s agenda and our people are involved in work to deliver the government’s Plan for Change, right across every mission. The team works closely with the Attorney General’s Office and other law officer departments, including the Crown Prosecution Service and Serious Fraud Office.
The communications team is around 16 strong and critical to the department’s success. In what is GLD’s 10th anniversary year we are increasing our external profile, bolstering the reputation and impact of GLD across the legal profession and beyond.
Our organisational strategy takes us to 2027 and our expert internal communications team is critical to its success. You will work closely with colleagues from across the communications team, as well as content editors across GLD, and GLD’s senior leaders, including the Permanent Secretary and their Executive Team colleagues.

The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Intranet Manager to join GLD’s Communications Team to help us continue to plan and deliver meaningful, engaging and impactful digital communications. As part of the GLD’s internal communication team you will engage colleagues through our intranet about GLD’s strategic priorities and support organisational and cultural change.
The Intranet Manager sets, co-ordinates and guides the implementation of digital publishing activity, based on user needs, as part of an overarching plan to deliver against agreed priorities to measurable effect.
Through this role we are looking to enhance our internal communications capability and improve how we engage staff with GLD’s priorities.
This is a key role for the organisation, working to the Head of Internal Communications.

Key responsibilities:
- Coordinate intranet publication, aligned with departmental key messages, strategic priorities and forward planning processes
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including senior leaders and corporate services colleagues to build strong relationships and provide them with effective intranet publishing advice and service delivery
- Managing intranet content by drafting, commissioning and editing compelling content to support GLD’s strategies, projects and programmes and evaluate activity using the GCS Evaluation Framework
- Manage re-development of the intranet platform to meet user needs, collaborating with multi-disciplinary project team including Digital, Data and Technology colleagues and managing suppliers
- Contribute to GLD’s external communications when required, including by publishing on GOV.UK and appropriate social media platforms

Key Skills & Experience

Security Clearance Level
All GLD employees must hold BPSS security clearance. If successful for this post you must hold, or be willing and able to obtain, SC level security clearance. Selection Process
After the closing date, the appointing panel shall assess candidates’ suitability for the role based on evidence provided in their application against the behaviours, experience and technical skills outlined in the person specification.
In the eventuality that there are a high number of applicants successful at sift, GLD may operate a longlist, whereby applicants who have been shortlisted and met the minimum pass mark but are not selected for interview will have their application placed on hold. After the initial interview round candidates on the longlist may be offered an interview, should there still be posts available.
Interview
