JELS Warehouse Officer (Supervisor)
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to join our Joint Equipment Loan Service (JELS) on a 12-month fixed term basis.
This is a key leadership role supporting the delivery of vital equipment to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.
Working closely with the Senior Team Leader, you will help ensure the efficient day-to-day running of the warehouse and delivery service, meeting performance targets and maintaining high standards of safety, service, and care.
You will support and lead a team responsible for the receipt, decontamination, repair, storage, and distribution of rehabilitation equipment, ensuring it reaches clients safely and on time.
The service supports and coordinates the provision of loan equipment to clients covering 2000 square miles of Northumberland and a population of over 331,000 people.
The role:
- Overseeand support warehouse staff, providing leadership, guidance and first-line support
- Plan, organise andmonitordaily workloads, including deliveries, collections, and refurbishment
- Ensure service targets (emergency, urgent, routinedeliveriesand recycling rates) are met
- Support staff development, including training,inductionsand one-to-one supervision
- Maintain equipment to required standards, including servicing,repairand PAT testing
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, infection control, and relevant regulations (PUWER/LOLER)
- Coordinate and adapt delivery routes and workloads in response to changing priorities
- Lead on audits, quality checks, and service improvements
- Deputise for theSenior Team Leaderwhenrequired
You need to be dynamic, innovative, committed and passionate, with excellent communication skills and the ability to influence and challenge. Be flexible, willing to learn new skills as appropriate to the post and possess excellent time management, decision making and the necessary IT skills to use the range of packages, e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel, Oracle etc.
You should have good organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to work under pressure. In service training will be given, as well as regular supervision and yearly appraisal.
