    What is the job role?

    As Team Manager for Children’s Joint Commissioning, you will lead a team responsible for driving integrated, high impact services for children and young people, families and carers.

    This post leads and directs the work of the Children’s Joint Commissioning Team, ensuring the delivery of City Council and health partner objectives. The role has a strong focus on commissioning services that span both local authority and health systems, including mental health, therapies, respite care, medical assessments, and provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

    As part of the Children’s Services leadership team, you will drive forward integrated commissioning approaches, ensuring services are high-quality, responsive, and centred around the needs of children and families. You will play a critical role in shaping commissioning strategies, influencing service development, and ensuring the voices of children and young people, parents and carers are embedded in service design and delivery.

    This post is exempted under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and as such appointment to this post will be conditional upon the receipt of a satisfactory response to a check of police records via Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).


    Who are we looking for?

    We are seeking an experienced and motivated leader with:

    • Strong experience in children’s joint commissioning across health and social care and education services.
    • Be skilled in leading commissioning for areas such as Childrens mental health, neurodivergent, short breaks and SEND provision.
    • Confidence working with key partners such as the ICB, Public Health, providers and Adult Commissioning
    • Be able to drive strategic planning, service development, quality assurance and market shaping
    • Be a strong negotiator with experience integrating services and delivering cross‑agency programmes through collaborative working
    • Be analytical and a collaborative leader who can deliver high‑quality, joined‑up services for children and young people
    • Experience of managing staff, budgets and leading complex commissioning or procurement processes involving partner organisations
    • You will be confident in leading change, influencing across organisations, and delivering improved outcomes for children and young people.

    Salary range

    • £56,393 - £63,239 per year
