The is an exciting opportunity to join our busy and dedicated Private Sector Housing Team on a full time, temporary funded basis. We are a relatively large team delivering a wide range of services that integrate public and private sector partners, creating a bottom-up approach to supporting neighbourhoods offering real help where it is needed through the empty homes programme, an innovative home improvement agency, landlord enforcement, selective and HMO licensing, the Good Landlord and Agent Accreditation scheme and energy efficiency improvements.
In this role you will focus on implementing transformational change to the private rented sector across the Borough. You will work alongside other Landlord Licensing Officers to improve the private rented sector across a wide range of initiatives including but not limited to:
- The licensing of properties covered under Part 3 of the Housing act 2004.
- Delivering and enforcing licence conditions along with failure to obtain licences.
- Tenancy relations dealing with illegal eviction and harassment.
- Partnership working with internal and external agencies to improve the standard of private rented properties
- Educating and advising Landlords and Managing Agents through the Good Landlord and Agent Scheme.
The common theme throughout these activities is to drive up standards of management and improve conditions to benefit the health, safety and welfare of residents living in private rented properties in Burnley.
The team operates from the Town Hall combined with some home working.
It is essential that you have experience of analysing, drawing conclusions from and making decisions based on large amounts of complex information. It is also essential that you have experience of dealing with difficult and confrontational situations.
It is essential that you can communicate effectively with people at all levels and from all backgrounds. It is also essential that you are able to present information clearly and concisely in both written and verbal formats.

Salary range
- £36,363 - £39,152 per year
