UCG provides education to over 11,000 learners a year, including 16–18-year-olds, adults, apprentices, and students with high needs.

Our students UCG attracts students from across London and beyond. Our students come from a diverse range of backgrounds. In the academic year 2022-23, we enrolled more than 3500 full time 16-18 students, 8,000 adult learners and over 450 apprentices across our Group. UCG currently enrol 250+ HE students per year, across 4 campuses onto 12 courses from STEM subjects (Science, Construction, Engineering, and Computing) to Business, Music and Professional Qualifications.
We have around 1,000 dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic staff who always put the needs of our students first. We are now looking for a Lead IQA to join our Business Development team in Newark.

About You
The Lead IQA will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing the quality of our apprenticeship and training provision. You will lead on internal quality assurance processes, supporting and developing assessors and IQAs to ensure consistently high standards of delivery and compliance with awarding organisation requirements.
You will monitor learner progress through robust sampling and quality assurance activities, ensuring timely achievement and a high-quality learning experience. You will also contribute to curriculum development, support teaching and learning strategies, and lead on External Quality Assurance (EQA) activity.
The successful applicant will provide expert guidance and feedback to assessors, support standardisation activities, and contribute to continuous improvement across programmes, ensuring all provision meets college and awarding body expectations.
The IQA Lead will:
- Lead internal quality assurance activities including sampling, observations and standardisation
- Support, mentor and develop assessors and IQAs to improve practice and performance
- Monitor learner progression and ensure timely achievement across programmes
- Plan and conduct learner interviews in line with IQA strategy
- Contribute to curriculum development and the creation of high-quality teaching and learning resources
- Lead on EQA visits and ensure full compliance with awarding organisation requirements
- Support the implementation and evaluation of teaching and learning strategies
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to quality assurance and performance review processes
- Engage with employers and sector developments to ensure provision remains current and relevant
You will have:
- A relevant vocational qualification at Level 3 or above
- An Assessor qualification (A1, CAVA, TAQA or equivalent)
- An IQA qualification (V1/TAQA Level 4 or equivalent)
- Relevant, up-to-date industrial/subject knowledge
- Experience of assessing and/or internal quality assurance within apprenticeship or vocational provision
- Knowledge of Ofsted and apprenticeship/AEB funding
- Excellent communication, organisational and administrative skills
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team to ensure high-quality outcomes
The nature of this post means that the post holder will be based in Newark.
Salary range
- £35,207 - £37,263 per year
