Working in the role of Lead Planning Officer you will implementing plans and strategies to transform the council’s development management plan; this will involve partnership with external stakeholders and ensuring the council continues to provide a cost effective and robust service that meets the needs and delivers high quality across North Northamptonshire.

What will you be doing?

Working as a lead planning officer you will be at the at the forefront of supporting initiatives and all aspects of process improvement to maintain a good level of service.

• Directing and overseeing all day-to-day operations and managing assigned employees

• Manage a caseload of major strategic planning applications and support head of departments

• Leading effective project management of workstreams for support in policy

• Preparation of public participation exercises and representing the council at exhibitions and meetings

• Carry out site inspections, research and consultations of the case

• To deputise for the heads of development management and enforcement in absence


About you

• You will hold a relevant degree to allow access to Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or equivalent

• Chartered membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute or equivalent or demonstration of eligibility for full Chartered Membership

• Demonstration of being responsible for full range of planning applications, largescale and complex proposals whilst overseeing others

• Extensive knowledge of English Planning System

• Experience of working at senior level for local planning authority

• Significant experience of negotiating with developers

• Proficient in writing clear and concise reports for various audiences and purpose
