About the role:
The HSB lead is responsible for coordinating services to children and young people who display sexually harmful behaviour, sexually inappropriate behaviour and/ or sexually offend.
You will work closely with schools and other professionals to offer advice and support on practice issues relating to sexual behaviours and work alongside practitioners to carry out AIM3 assessments and interventions both statutory and non-statutory. This will include carrying out school and home visits in order to complete interventions.
You will co-ordinate a borough wide training plan for AIM3 to include services such as; Schools, Foster carers, Social Workers, and Youth Justice and contribute to training to raise awareness in recognising and reporting sexually inappropriate and harmful sexual behaviour.
You will ensure effective and appropriate monitoring of requests / referrals / activities in order to maintain Information Systems and to inform evaluation of activities and the broader work of the service.
You will develop a borough wide Harmful Sexual Behaviour protocol outlining AIM's use and implementation and thresholds for appropriate assessment and interventions
You will carry out the requirements of criminal justice legislation, safeguarding legislation and other legislation and statutory guidance.
You will liaise closely with Youth Justice Service, Police, CAMHS and Children are Social Care; and ensure CAMHS are linked in where this is appropriate.

Key Responsibilities:
- Contribute to the strategic direction of local services regarding harmful sexual and sexually inappropriate behaviours.
- Ensure the development in all aspects of the harmful sexual and sexually inappropriate behaviour service work, that victims are considered and safeguarded.
- Ensure all risk procedures are adhered to in order to manage the risk to children and young people and the community.
- Ensure effective and appropriate monitoring of requests / referrals / activities in order to maintain information systems and to inform evaluation of activities and the broader work of the service.
- Contribute to overarching sexual health strategy and be a link to the appropriate strategic groups.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Demonstrate clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate a commitment to anti-oppressive practice
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of legislation and guidance in relation to child protection and youth offending
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of child and adolescent development
- Have experience of assessment and delivery of a therapeutic intervention
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of best practice in working with children and young people who display sexually inappropriate and harmful sexual behaviours
- Demonstrate a sound working knowledge of the skills and strategies required to assess and intervene with children, young people and their families
- Demonstrate enthusiasm and commitment to working with professionals from a range of backgrounds
- Demonstrate an ability to plan, coordinate and deliver training to a wide range of practitioners across the children’s workforce
- Experience of using the AIM3 assessment model to carryout assessments relating to sexual harmful behaviour.
- Have the ability to effectively chair meetings and follow up agreed actions
- Demonstrate an understanding of risk management, including an awareness of MAPPA processes and procedures.
- Demonstrate the ability to plan and make effective decisions being aware of their implications.
- Demonstrate a willingness to undertake appropriate training and development.
- This role will require you to travel across the borough to schools and professionals in various locations.
Qualifications
- A professional qualification relevant to Health, Youth Justice or Social Services
- AIM 3 trained.
