About the School

Thank you for your interest in this role. This is an exciting time to be joining Oaks Park High School.

We were proud to achieve a ‘Good’ outcome in all categories during our Ofsted inspection in October 2023, where inspectors commented:

  • “The school is ambitious for all pupils, including those with SEND. It has designed a curriculum that sets out high academic expectations.”
  • “Teachers have strong subject knowledge. This is reflected in their high-quality explanations of subject content.”
  • “Pupils are respectful and polite. They understand the school’s expectations in terms of conduct and behaviour.”
  • “Staff know their pupils well, and they build positive relationships with them.”

The school is an increasingly popular choice within the local community, and we are delighted to advertise this role due to expansion and a larger intake of students in September 2025.

We have produced a short video to give you an insight into working at Oaks Park High School. It includes some of the staff you will potentially be working alongside.

The Role

This is a non-teaching post offering an excellent opportunity to work closely with young people, supporting them in their school life and helping them to access a varied and engaging curriculum.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be part of a team working under the direction of the SENCo.

Alongside our mainstream provision, Oaks Park High School is home to Horizon – the largest autism base in the country. This specialist provision offers small teaching classes and a bespoke curriculum for students with autism.

Applications are particularly welcome from candidates with experience in this area, or an interest in developing experience working with students with autism. Please indicate this on your application form.

You will be expected to work effectively with teaching and support staff at all levels, as well as with parents/carers, students and external agencies.

Further details can be found in the job description and person specification.
