
Learning Support Assistant with MDSA duty
Job introduction
The Governors of Rudyard Kipling Primary School and Nursery wish to appoint a charismatic, highly motivated and nurturing Learning Support Assistant on a fixed term basis. This post will be to support children accessing alternative provision within our school who require individualised, creative and purposeful provision. This post is attached to a child and should their placement change, the role would end.
Paid weeks per year: 47.36 LSA, 43.89 MDSA (inclusive of holiday entitlement)
Fixed term: Depending on child’s placement at our school.
Start date: Monday 5th January 2026
About the role
We are looking for a special person who is:
- To join and further develop our nurturing and inclusive culture that strives for children to reach their full potential
- To support the learning of children working at or pre-key stage
- To plan fun, creative, playful and engaging activities
- To be reflective and flexible
- To work within a team in partnership with the SENCo, class teachers and other colleagues to support the children in reaching their best outcomes
- To dynamically risk assess and manage children’s safety
- To believe in outdoor education and embrace our wonderful grounds and resources
- To follow our Empowerment Approach and School Values to enhance the children’s learning
- To have an understanding of strategies which support SEND learners, such as Just Right, Makaton, Visuals, structure and routine
- To have experience of supporting children with challenging needs and behaviour
- To establish positive relationships with parents and families
