About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and customer-focused Leasehold Officer to join our Leasehold Services team. This is a key front-line role supporting leaseholders, shared owners, and Right to Buy applicants. You’ll be part of a dynamic busy team committed to delivering high-quality services and continuous improvement.

You will provide expert advice on leasehold management, service charges, and the Right to Buy process. You’ll also play a vital role in ensuring legal compliance, financial accuracy, and excellent customer service.

Preference will be given to applicants who have worked in a leasehold services capacity but training will be provided to the right candidate who can demonstrate the qualities and skills required for this role. Successful shortlisting for interview will be on the basis of meeting the essential criteria in the job description and person specification and selection will focus on experienced candidates in the first instance.

Key responsibilities include:

  • providing advice on leasehold management, service charges, and Right to Buy applications
  • maintaining accurate records and managing billing and recovery of leasehold-related charges
  • supporting legal processes for arrears recovery and tribunal preparation
  • facilitating leaseholder consultations and ensuring compliance with Section 20 legislation
  • responding to enquiries from leaseholders, legal representatives, and external agencies
  • handling all enquiries for leaseholders
  • undertaking occasional site visits and attending evening and weekend consultations as required

We're looking for someone with:

  • good organisational and communication skills
  • good IT proficiency (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • experience delivering services to customers, including in challenging situations
  • the ability to work flexibly, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines

It would also be desirable to have:

  • an understanding of Leasehold and Right to Buy legislation
  • experience drafting legal documents or preparing tribunal cases
  • knowledge of local authority procedures
  • a relevant housing qualification

Crawley is a great place to work, with a thriving business district and excellent transport connections including nearby Gatwick Airport. We are based in our modern Town Hall which opened in 2023 and is located a short walk from the town centre and railway station.

We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this advert before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
