How You’ll Be Involved
This role plays a vital part in ensuring that housing disrepair claims are managed effectively, supporting residents in maintaining safe and healthy homes while safeguarding Camden’s legal and financial responsibilities.
You will manage housing disrepair cases, providing expert legal support, ensuring compliance with regulations and collaborating with internal and external teams to deliver timely resolutions for tenants.

We’re looking for someone who can bring legal expertise and excellent organisational skills to a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You’ll be confident communicating with a wide range of stakeholders and have a strong understanding of housing law and disrepair claims. While formal qualifications are valued, we’re equally interested in your practical experience and ability to make a positive impact.

Experience working in housing disrepair or similar legal environment.

Good working knowledge and understanding of the pre-action protocol for housing disrepair and the Civil Procedures Rules.

Good working knowledge and understanding of Civil Litigation procedures, particularly relating to drafting and filing claims, preparing witness statements, complying with Directions, and service of orders.

Experience of advising clients and meeting client deadlines.

Good experience of working as part of a team, including in a multi-discipline team.

Proficient in using Microsoft Office and computerised time recording systems (preferably Prescient+ / iCasework).

Experience of conducting legal proceedings, including preparation of court papers and witness statements, advising on evidence, and handling disclosure to achieve good outcomes.

Ability to deliver advocacy, both written and oral, in the Civil Courts.

Good knowledge of the council’s policies on valuing diversity and equality.

Experience of handling sensitive information under data protection and confidentiality requirements.

A law degree, CILEX qualification, or equivalent.
