Local Government Reorganisation (LGR) Statement

Surrey is included in the Local Government Reorganisation plans, with new unitary councils expected to be established by April 2027.

Woking Borough Council remains committed to delivering high-quality services to residents throughout this period of change.

Woking Borough Council has the following opportunity within its well respected In-House Legal team to support the Council’s functions and services.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and enthusiastic Legal Officer to play a key role in our team.

We are looking for a Legal Officer to carry a varied Property caseload in a Local Government context. You will have a sound knowledge of general Property and Landlord and Tenant Law as well as experience in more complex matters. The work will include residential property work, work in connection with the Council’s commercial property portfolio and assistance in other areas as required.

You should be enthusiastic, confident, organised and be able to work on your own initiative. You should be able to manage a busy workload to tight deadlines.

You will support the Head of Legal Services and the Strategic Director Governance and Corporate Services to provide a comprehensive, efficient and effective Legal service to the Council, as well as supporting lawyers in handling cases.
