Join Our Growing Volunteer Police Cadet Programme!
Since launching in Leicestershire in 2015, the National Volunteer Police Cadet (VPC) Scheme has gone from strength to strength. Today, nearly 120 cadets are part of four thriving units across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland.
Our programme is open to young people aged 13–17, offering a unique opportunity to learn about policing and make a real difference in local communities through volunteering.
We welcome cadets from all backgrounds, regardless of gender, ethnicity, ability, or prior interest in policing. In fact, we especially encourage applications from young people who may have had previous contact with the police or feel disconnected from their peers or community.
Thanks to the dedication of our cadets, Leicestershire Police is better equipped to address the issues that matter most to local residents. Cadets generously give their time and energy to support and strengthen their communities.
What’s in it for you?
At Leicestershire Police, we’re committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone can thrive. As a cadet, you’ll have the chance to:
- Learn about Policing procedures, Criminal law, Crime prevention and gain new life skills.
- Assist with events in your local community and attend VPC events which can be across the country with Cadet Units from other forces.
- Build confidence, leadership skills, and lifelong friendships
Our cadet units meet weekly for two hours, typically between 6pm and 8pm (subject to change). Here’s where you can find us:
