Salary: £29,183.20 to £36,295.20 per annum including London Weighting Allowance (Pro rata of £36,479.00 - £45,369.00 per annum including London Weighting Allowance)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed A-Level Politics and Sociology Lecturer to join our successful A Levels team at Paddington Green Campus on a 0.8 fixed-term basis.

The successful candidate should have a degree (or equivalent) in Politics, Sociology or a related subject and be familiar with the current A-Level curriculum. The ability to teach A-Level History would also be advantageous. We welcome applications from teachers with experience across a range of disciplines dedicated to inspiring students to achieve their full potential.

You will deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment, helping students develop critical thinking, analytical skills and academic confidence while preparing them for progression to higher education and future careers. Working as part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you will contribute to curriculum development, monitor student progress and support the achievement of excellent outcomes.

The role also includes acting as a personal tutor to a group of students, providing academic guidance and pastoral support, so experience of the UCAS process and supporting learners with progression planning would be beneficial.

You will have sound organisational skills and the ability to work cooperatively, contributing positively and creatively within a team. Excellent communication, administration and interpersonal skills are essential, together with the ability to motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds.

The successful candidate will hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant subject and have experience of teaching A-Level Politics and/or Sociology, with a strong understanding of current curriculum and examination requirements. You will have excellent communication, organisational and classroom management skills, alongside the ability to motivate learners from a wide range of backgrounds.

A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, CertEd or equivalent) is desirable and experience within Further Education are desirable, although candidates who are willing to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification upon appointment are also encouraged to apply.
