Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs Representative (Roster Clerk)

The post holder will work within the Libraries and Neighbourhood Hubs Team within Culture, Sport & Tourism, delivering an efficient and effective provision whilst always maintaining excellent customer care, maintain relief staff schedules to ensure Libraries and Neighbourhood hubs are sufficiently staffed.
The post holder will act as a point of contact for enquiries from staff and customers; in person, by telephone, by email or other electronic means, and provide prompt and accurate information, advice and signposting to services, including accessing those digitally online.
The role includes the supervision of volunteers, relief, apprentices and placements. The libraries and neighbourhood hubs have a pool of relief staff that are utilised when there are gaps within the service due to sickness and leave, therefore the organisation and supervision of this is essential to this role to prevent any impact on the service.
In line with the library strategy, the post holder will participate in promotional and development activities and events for customers across the service, including online social media content, to support the implementation of the strategy.
The post holder will support the service to conduct outreach work to promote the library service within the community and encourage participation. Working in tandem with the Universal Offers of the library and focusing on key outcomes of the strategy is essential when delivering and developing the day-to-day activities, ensuring inclusivity and community cohesion is at the forefront of this work.
The role will involve supporting the completion of forms, applications and correspondence for customers and provide advice on the eligibility of services, including the verification of documents provided.
This position will primarily be based within the new central library however there is the requirement to work flexibly providing support across libraries and neighbourhood hubs when required. Flexible working hours can include evenings and weekends and additional hours as and when required to meet the needs of the service.
The post holder will carry out stock control including maintaining and actively promoting materials for loan in all formats and making recommendations about stock content.
Duties entail a considerable amount of lifting and handling of items.
On occasion you will be expected to act as a keyholder with responsibility for the opening and closing of the premises at a locality site where needed. The post holder will also take responsibility for basic building maintenance reporting where necessary.
In the event the Emergency Plan is activated, a willingness to participate in, a 24-hour rota to deliver essential Council services.
